In search of a worthy impulse

Often the impulses that drive us bewilder us or they hurt, confound and distract, sending a us off on a macabre dance through pain and disillusionment, enslaved by a maniacal pulse tapped out by a pair of once beguiling red shoes we now long to shed but don’t know how. Slowly it becomes apparent, only we can take them off, no one else can do that for us, but how to break the spell? Continue reading

Today is not the same as yesterday

Just as when a new era begins, some start to know it, others lag behind, fixated with “hard” evidence that all all remains exactly as it was before… Continue reading

All connected: navigating the tricky, sticky first experiences of realising our collective oneness

It’s never been more apparent that we are one giant organism…as connected as we have been made to feel disparate and separate. Ironically, though we seem even more separate than ever before, we are only proving this truism to ourselves and each other MORE right now, by feeling these awarenesses stirring in our own cells, often quite uncomfortably at first…and especially so during a dam-buster event such as New Year’s eve when all our boundaries come crashing down under the barrage of collective emotions. So, what now and how do we use this understanding to fuel a whole new collective momentum, towards a more positive state of affairs, in 2021 and beyond? Continue reading

The unmistakable lightening of days

Let me take you on a walk through a city; am impromptu Imbolc ceremony with a difference. No green pasture this, no village tree surrounded by fields…but, rather, pavements cracked with gold that speak of new beginnings. As ever, my … Continue reading

Evolving through collective grief to the other side

Are we prepared to evolve? Really? Through all of our layers, to the very core of our being, fully commited to this in every way? Its such an important question and not being clear on this can prolongue a state of unacknowledged grieving for the “old norm”; grieving being a necessary process for both individuals and the collective…but not one we are meant to get stuck in for very long. Continue reading

New growth out of old wood

New growth out of old wood is infinitely possible; we see it all the time, out in Nature, happening before our very eyes. Winter’s tree is reliably replaced by springtime’s new growth, to a pattern that always serves the purposes of the tree, however it may look from the outside. Whilst anyone may choose to withdraw inwards to suit the season, becoming as woody, barren, plain and withdrawn as they must be to meet the harsher climes of life, we still get to choose when to “sprout” our way out, in new and colourfully creative ways…over and over again, exactly as we say so… Continue reading

Like a bee from a jar

Having just finished reading “Set Free: A Life Changing Journey from Banking to Buddhism in Bhutan”, I realise suddenly that finding others people’s stories like this is terribly important to me and I am actively looking for more like this. Perhaps it is a sign that I am ready to join up with other people, even if only so far as noticing similar patterns in our experiences and smiling quietly to see those patterns in motion. Crossing paths with others operating from a dramatically reformatted and yet remarkably similar place to your own can be such encouragement. There is a powerful point of creative evolution, a sort of concentrated forward momentum, to be found in the meeting place between your two sets of experiences and the many ways that they are found to correspond; like the essence of oneness in action.

This book corresponded with my own experiences of a “tear it up and start again” life very powerfully and the real gift is that its author was prepared to overcome her initial misgivings to share what she did. I experience the same wobble and doubts about sharing my own story every time I write a blog…yet it feels to me that sharing the journey of awakening could be the most important thing that I am doing with my life (apart from taking the journey itself…). As above, I really hope that increasing numbers of people are prepared to hold their spiritual journeys somewhat less close to the chest in order to put these experiences out there since I suspect the time has come when we really need the encouragement of each other. We long to sense that we are not alone on these very intense personal journeys and to notice the patterns; for in those patterns, and the making conscious of them, we give even more wind to our collective sails…(extract from “Like a bee from the jar”). #SetFree #SpiritualAwakening

In every ending…a new beginning

The mother could not be such without the child, nor the beginning exist without the ending…and so we go on birthing ourselves through the creative fires of each other, joined together equally by the creative watery flow that courses back and forth; linked by both the “fire” and the “water” processes that generate who we are.

There is no imperative to have been through the literal birthing experience to know and understand this fundamental process of life since it is the basis of all experience; the yin and the yang in action. Many of us have been (or are going) through our own particular version of the kind of fire that transforms and yet we can trust that the water of healing and deeper understanding will always follow. I sense that the healing, invigorating and enlightening waters of this reality are on the brink of breaching their holding spaces and overflowing their edges right now, for all of us, as we collectively birth into the themes of the Aquarius age. Just as I am hearing from water across so many aspects of my life, I sense that we are collectively expectant (and just a little bit nervous…as is only natural) as we reach that equally collective moment of the waters breaking ready to birth something entirely new and transformational into our world. Shaken not stirred…obviously the way we like it

As I wake up this morning to what I find I already knew before I opened my eyes, it seems we have chosen the route of most entropy in order to evolve. Not what so many of us wanted; not … Continue reading

Uncommon alchemy: a Glastonbury tale

Repeatedly bumping into one or two people that you feel that you know and yet never saying a word to them (except with your eyes), knowing that they feel it too…these are the kind of clues to your own experience that present through the layers of Glastonbury. This along with so many signs and synchronicities that it is is quite possible to feel like you are entering a theme park dedicated to all of your own thematic threads, which gives it an air of detachment from everyday life that starts delivering as soon as you arrive. For this reason, I suspect, Avalon can only really be found through the portal of your own heart-journey, not somebody else’s route, so be prepared to give yourself up to this as fluidly as your timetable allows (preferably, having no such schedule). For my own part, I was struck by my choice of a week in October; an interesting choice, just before All Hallows and yet, I already suspected, going there when Somerset’s dark-pagan underbelly was closest to the surface was part of what was held in store for me…and it was.

Sharing an exceptional few days of pure alchemy working with the ancient landscape of Glastonbury…. (read on). Continue reading
