The point of it all: memory shared

What is memory, where is it stored, how do we access it, do we all share it, how is it structured and how might this be evolving? Exploring this complex topic through a richly interwoven discussion of memories on a personal and global scale in what feels like one of the most pivotal posts I have offered to date. Testament of One

It is those who tap those first holes in the glass of one paradigm who enable the next generations to see beyond its almost invisible limitations (so all-consuming can a paradigm be…) so that new light is allowed to enter and a broader perspective obtained. This is the kind of new perspective that Einstein referred to as necessarily “outside” of the current paradigm in order for us to evolve beyond its limitations and repeat behaviours. Light pouring through glass can seem just as real as light outside in the daylight…until the glass itself is shown-up to be what it is; another ceiling, the edge of a box, a particular perspective controlled by someone but not ourselves, a barrier to experiencing something much more whole and direct. Inside a particular paradigm, we experience a version of reality and it only shows us what “it” wants us to see. When we are inside of one paradigm, we can feel as comfortable as a tropical plant in its hothouse, all our needs met by it (if we are so lucky…). All without realising what we are missing, which is the open sky of something that would make it thus for all of us, not just those who are fortunate enough to be living in the most comfortable corners of a botanical experiment operated by those who turn dials to create the artificial heating and water supply that make-up our existence. In a lesser paradigm (an earlier wave of evolution, if you like) there are always those who lose out from its perspective, those who are discriminated against, who become the cannon fodder, the pawns in the game, those who are denied access, whose heads are stepped on by others getting to where they want to be. Someone has always been left out…and we are approaching the time when that is no longer tenable; it is a version of reality that is no longer supported by the universal impulse of this planet. Our time of oneness in the sense that we finally acknowledge and live by the tenet that we are all as-one, thus what we do to “other” we only do to ourselves, is upon us and the last century served as a “darkest before the dawn” moment to herald that new era.

Shaken not stirred…obviously the way we like it

As I wake up this morning to what I find I already knew before I opened my eyes, it seems we have chosen the route of most entropy in order to evolve. Not what so many of us wanted; not … Continue reading

Look me in the eye and say that

When a system is broken, nobody feels “heard” and this undermines something fundamental about the human condition, stealing away our sense of worth and liberty while seemingly forcing us into the kind of corners where we show our very worst aspects as some sort of “currency” to barter with. I have found myself hamming up my personal circumstances to all those call centres this week because, when cornered – hard – by a protocol that feel unrelenting obtuse and unlistening, we sometimes feel like there is nothing else we can do but spew our personal circumstances and lose our cool. We are often reduced to ranting toddlers by the time our solution is delivered after much banging of heads on a brick wall and so is it any wonder that the delivery or repair force is then accustomed to arriving at people’s homes to find customers poised like Rottweilers ready to pounce; no wonder they sometimes refuse to go the extra-yard. We have become entrenched in a mass stand-off, with the people who work at the front line of our services feeling abused and abusive because people behind the scenes get away with so very much. At its rotten root, it all comes from policy, not from the people manning the phones per se; though the fact they don’t have to look people in the eyes when they feed them the corporate line has made it oh-so easy for us to habituate this modern-day mode of behaviour and kid ourselves its is the acceptable norm to send out and receive. Our mores have become corporate and our evolution requires that we shed those standards and stand by our own once again; like we did when we were village shopkeepers and looked people straight in the eye…only on a far bigger scale. This is our next challenge and it is entirely achievable once we all remember how important it is to feel respected and heard ourselves (read more…). Continue reading

Following the unseen river

The sense of all these voices being tuned-in and innately guided towards an unrehearsed harmony that perfectly blended all the various pitches, the personal notes into one unified sound was quite palpable and, as it hit the ceiling, this magnified one-sound seemed to rain down on us and feed back into us all as pure energy…It seemed like I had followed an invisible flow to be here this night. I had been part of a river of great healing flowing freely, had witnessed something incredible, taken part in it, knew for certain something quite wonderful was well underway…. Continue reading

Blasting love into all the darkest corners

Both inside and out, I realised, I had met such an opportunity this weekend…a cosmically orchestrated invitation NOT to return to old reactions, those same old patterns of fear and hatred and obliteration, but to go in deeper and with my heart wide open. By starting with what we know, the familiar, the relatable, we get to follow similar threads into deeper corners, less relatable places but where the message is still the same, the opportunity still one to meet, to hear something out, to recognise one’s own self blinking back at you from the darkness and to love that frightened and cornered part of yourself back to health. When a situation seems chronic – whether a chronic illness or an unfolding catastrophe in our world – the opportunity is that, exactly like a Trojan horse, these ‘awful’ things can take you to the very root of the ‘problem’, right in so deep that the opportunity to blast the light of love into all the very darkest places, the very source of the ‘illness’, is the very gift at the heart of things, just waiting to opened; an invitation to heal and transform from the inside out. Another bee or two are to be found in my new work this week; a small study, in oil on canvas, of summer bees enjoying the hedgerow flowers along one of my favourite riverside walks. The composition and colours are … Continue reading

Take off

My recent reading-stalemate (referred to a couple of posts ago) was interrupted last week when I decided to delve deeper into the backlog of Richard Bach and I don’t know why I didn’t think of it sooner. With my old … Continue reading

Love swept

My final painting of 2014 felt like it had saved itself up for last at the end of a year that was all about shift and transformation. This one came directly from the soul and took on an almost surreal … Continue reading
