How social media messes with the very point of art

Does an artist, really, have to stay on social media to survive, or, do they sometimes need to detatch from social media in order for the artist in them to survive? Hmm, discussing this one outloud… Continue reading

Cultivating joie de vivre

Joy of life is about the most valuable commodity we have so we need to take charge of our own joy quota and do whatever we can to embody it, not to idealise it as a state beyond all care, outside of physicality as though joy is what we refer to as heaven, but in a physical sense hung around with all our most human traits. Thus the phrase joie de vive has it covered for me, as in, referring specifically to “the joy of life”; a kind of joy that is because of life, not separate from it. People say how can I have this when “things” are so dire and I would say go after it, make it happen, yes from your soul, but then once you have found ways to bring it into your body, those outside circumstances will start to change! The moon and our key relationships

Are our key relationships held for us, in prototype, by our relationship with the moon? Far fetched as that sounds, we all have some sort of prototype relationship “held” up for us in this way because we were all born during one of its phases; and the moon speaks to our every cell. The way our moon phase and, that rare thing, the out of bounds moon (whether we have one or not…both equally telling), impact our relationship with that moon….and determine traits about us that influence the whole of our life trajectory…is one of the most impactful things I have delved into. Most powerfully of all, it led me back to the relationship I have with myself in ways that have utterly transformed pretty much everything of late. If you want to join me for a swim in this particular pool-by-moonlight, please feel free to dive in… Continue reading

Airing your undies on the line

What’s with all this blogging people do? For me, its an addictive, almost obsessive-compulsive sense of creating order out of the otherwise arbitrary “chaos” of consciousness, of grasping handfuls of tenuously related threads and pulling them all together into a definitive cross-over point and finishing with the pretty bow that writing gives to a series of random epiphanies. While I breathe, it seems, I must write…

When we act and create from what we feel inexplicably compelled to do (that is, from the heart), we can never fail to expand outwards from ourselves and that “small” personal act in countless ways; spiralling out into the world on the back of our own enthusiasm and becoming to others the “breath” of inspiration (breath is, necessarily two-directional…) in ways both overt or immeasurably subtle, our output ending up who knows where, like the very air from our lungs. So, does blogging serve a purpose for those who do it…does art or anything done for the love of it…well, does breathing? Continue reading

Coming out to play

Some people are born ‘naturals’ with children and some really aren’t. Some mistake immaturity for stupidity and impose their adult ‘know-how’ in a patronising way, delivering information on a need to know basis, making it prescriptive, leaving no room for … Continue reading
