The way of the birds

Impossible to dwell anywhere but here and now when the birds are around. They call us back to this moment more efficiently than any reminder on some “app” designed to drag us away from our obsessions, our fixations and our ruminations (which I first mistyped “ruinations”…not far wrong!) Their antics and rhythms, their chatter and song keep us grounded in what really matters…so ironic, given they are born for the wing. Continue reading

Writing as compared to nest-building

The title says it all…but there’s more to the analogy than I thought, when it occured to me. Continue reading

Being in balance

Do we subliminally fear balance, as though it is a kind of “death”? Perhaps we need to remind ourselves that balance isn’t an end-game but a beginning point. Continue reading

On a golden flightpath

Was it a coincidence…this thing I had focussed on so concertedly for weeks in early 2020 manifested as a theme of the year? A flash of golden end of year insight for New Year. Continue reading

The taking and the giving

We all give and we take…but its how and why we do it that makes all the difference. Continue reading

Cultivating the mystical

In order to experience the exceptional, we first have to alter our own frequency…then make space for it to happen. After that, its so easy, we wonder why we don’t do it sooner or more often! Continue reading

When did Earth become our least favourite thing?

There’s a disconnect between people and the environment and it has only become worse since the age of the mobile phone. Now, people walk around as though in their own biosphere since all of their own friends (who share their same views) and, in fact, their own mini-verse in digital form is carried around with them wherever they go via the device that seldom leaves their hand. We seem to be part of the generation that is, at once, the most informed yet most tragically naive since truth is something people get to custom-build from what they choose to focus their attention on (and there are just so many choices now). Earth has apparently become the least favourite, least attention garnering, most taken-for-granted, thing in most people’s minds and this is a balance that needs to be tipped or we are truly done for; there’s a truth we would all have to share! Continue reading

Three winged tales for the year end

I’m going to share a trio of stories from my last day of the year; things that happened quite organically, though there seems to be a distinct thread of bird-magic running through them. The first relates to a new artwork … Continue reading

Parting of ways

It was like being in a scene from Snow White…surrounded as I was yet it was like the sea of wild-life effortlessly parted to make way for me as I progressed; these creatures were working with me while it was obvious I was hardly interrupting their morning at the pace I was driving. You could say, all was harmonious and in balance. Meanwhile, on the M4 motorway, two swans had taken up residence…was Nature trying to tell us all something this morning and are we ready to hear? Continue reading

Its a new dawn, its a new day…

Doing yoga on top of a hill during a Total Solar Eclipse….now that’s an unforgettable way to start off a Friday and something I hadn’t done before; so there was some ‘newness’ right off the plate, even before the whole … Continue reading
