In search of a worthy impulse

Often the impulses that drive us bewilder us or they hurt, confound and distract, sending a us off on a macabre dance through pain and disillusionment, enslaved by a maniacal pulse tapped out by a pair of once beguiling red shoes we now long to shed but don’t know how. Slowly it becomes apparent, only we can take them off, no one else can do that for us, but how to break the spell? Continue reading

The peril and the gift of feeling cut-loose

In these confusing times, I think a lot of us feel profoundly cut loose, without a moral or even logical framework by which to moduate our behaviours. Our culture is driven by compulsions of all kinds, mostly those that lead back to fear in all its disguises. If we were to dig to the roots of most of our behavours, we would discover some anxiety there, that if we didn’t do “this” then “that” would happens. Without the structures once provided from cradle to grave by religious belief and a far simpler construct of what life is all about, many feel lost and all at sea. So, what are our choices? How do we choose what next from our highest aspect? Continue reading

The way of the birds

Impossible to dwell anywhere but here and now when the birds are around. They call us back to this moment more efficiently than any reminder on some “app” designed to drag us away from our obsessions, our fixations and our ruminations (which I first mistyped “ruinations”…not far wrong!) Their antics and rhythms, their chatter and song keep us grounded in what really matters…so ironic, given they are born for the wing. Continue reading

Gold where you are

Sometimes we don’t see gold for looking, or because we see what we expect to see, not what is actually there… Continue reading

Trick of the light

When you have felt disillusioned and out of place most of your life, though you have tried so very hard to bring light, what next? How do you bring the light deep into your struggling state of embodiment, to make the ultimate paradigm leap of your lifetime? You see it all as it is, you shout it out, you bring awareness in to light up the whole picture and you continue working at being the light and then…well, let’s see. Continue reading

Feedback

Receiving feedback is an entirely natural and healthy part of life but the quality of our lives can depend, quite majorly, on where we tend to seek it and the reasons why… Continue reading

Living in the everywhere

How much does our ingrained concept of time being strictly linear perpetuate the sense that “past” or even “future” is some remote, inaccessible thing with a volume of space keeping us apart from it? How much healing and other potential do we miss when we adhere to such thinking?? Continue reading

Here to hold light

To feel such joy and such sadness at the same time seems to be part of the inbuilt dichotomy of these times…and is how I feel every morning when I walk in “our” little woods to where the crescendo of … Continue reading

All connected: navigating the tricky, sticky first experiences of realising our collective oneness

It’s never been more apparent that we are one giant organism…as connected as we have been made to feel disparate and separate. Ironically, though we seem even more separate than ever before, we are only proving this truism to ourselves and each other MORE right now, by feeling these awarenesses stirring in our own cells, often quite uncomfortably at first…and especially so during a dam-buster event such as New Year’s eve when all our boundaries come crashing down under the barrage of collective emotions. So, what now and how do we use this understanding to fuel a whole new collective momentum, towards a more positive state of affairs, in 2021 and beyond? Continue reading

Out of the spin cycle

I was doing some dusting the other day, reaching up high to the top of a book shelf when I noticed a long-legged spider hanging on a fine thread of web in the corner of the ceiling, spinning and spinning … Continue reading
