A woman’s voice across time

I like to think I’ve swept some grace through these places over the years; doing what grace does best, mixing up the light and the dark so that the line between them becomes softened…perhaps even more radiant. I like to think that in getting closer to finding my wholeness here, against all odds, I’ve increased the odds for all things that I’ve brushed past on my wending way… Exploring the underlying perfection of the places we happen to be in, however those happen to seem. The Sacredness of Life as purpose

If you happened upon this post, having often wondered what it was that made life so hard and even purposeless in your case when others seem to thrive, then know that it shouldn’t be the case…and that you are probably not that far off from flipping everything in your favour. The point is, first off, to realise that you are not “made” like everyone else and to recognise and honour those differences as the unused gifts that they probably are. You have a purpose but it may not look like anyone else’s purpose (though it is beneath the surface…yours is just wrapped up in slightly different priorities). Yours may sound a lot more abstract than theirs when you find it…but that’s not to say it can’t be put to practical use. The point is to identify that purpose (what has been the one thing that seems most important to you and which has driven you along, throughout all the various “projects” of your life, even “accidental” ones such as claiming your health back…) and then use that to fuel your own chosen trajectory. Yes, you can and will grow out of the dark places that may have become your home or your hide-y-hole for so long; but you need the right scaffolding to assist you to do that and, like all the best scaffolding, this needs to be supportive from within. The joy of finding tribe

When you find “tribe” your relative uniqueness can flip from being a weakness to becoming your very power-point…that which unites you and makes you more determined to be the difference together. Deep familiarity sweeps you over for the fact that it is so typically absent when you are amongst other people…and suddenly you are all lit up, laughing at all the ironies that once floored you, ignited with enthusiasm, passion, innovation and determination whilst eagerly gobbling up all the resources you can pool together. Its a powerful thing and all the more so when its been absent from your life for so long you had all but convinced yourself you were destined to travel this road alone.

Memories from the stones

Sometimes its as though the stones of a place speak to us; sometimes its a feeling of a place that takes us back in time…reminding us of something important, like a memo to ourselves. Continue reading

Leave what you know…

Set sail from the shore. “Paint” in life what you feel from your depths, not your intellect. This will flutter and shape-shift; you’ll never catch up…but oh the journey, the heights, the joy. Scared? Oh yes. Feel that too.

We are the keystone of the bridge

Too often, the well-meaning desire for wholeness resorts to force or self-claimed authority to try to make this union happen; and its left uncomfortable, raw, impermanent and ready to blow-up at again at the slightest pressure. When we craft a version of wholeness as an extension of ourselves, in the way of any true project of the heart, the in-built incentive is already there to remain whole because it feels so good; since it comes straight from our divinity. We are remembering who we really are, outside the arena of halves that is the earth plane, and it feels…well…divine! Continue reading

Taking off those lead boots

Every moment you spend raking over the old paradigm is another moment spent in there. Check in with yourself, where are you still doing this? Its like wearing lead boots!   ***

Being unlimited

…our next best-answer might lie in the very opposite “thing” to what we believed-in most ardently just a short moment ago…or the thing that was standing side-by-side with “our truth” yet which we didn’t notice since our gaze was so fixed… Continue reading

Little wren

All kinds of realities can look as real as anything as we proceed through our human existence; we are all surrounded by them, every day, but when we keep hurting ourselves because of them, we can be sure they are a fiction of some kind…perhaps one that is so long-running that we don’t even remember anything different. They can be as convincing as anything we have ever seen, made all the more potent through the tug of nostalgia and familiarity. When they are a false reality in our experience, and they suddenly dissolve, we don’t go to pieces with that circumstance but, rather, that dissolution is what it takes to end the repeat cycles of self-destruction….perhaps even those repeated across many lifetimes. We stop hurling ourselves and hurtling mindlessly towards things that don’t serve us, in search of what we have fixated upon as “what we need to perpetuate in order to survive”. As is sometimes the case before illusory worlds fall apart (as we are seeing happen right now in our world-politics…), the illusory reality sometimes has to be stepped up to become even more overtly unnatural than ever, in order for us to “get it” and move on. Such a moment is what proceeds the moment of realisation…when we, as it were, wake up to what is real and swiftly find our way back to ourselves.

This tale of extreme optimism was “told” to me by a little wren just the other day… Continue reading

Phases of the Moon

We can lose touch with the thread of “who we meant to be” as the cloth of life becomes ever more wooly with the friction of circumstance and it can be so useful to reconnect with that most pristine of golden fibres; the one that led us to want to be here at this place and time in our collective evolutionary story, contributing our all-important piece to the tapestry. Working with phases of the moon has been such a powerful mechanism for carrying out such an overview; so much so that I want to share what I learned from an extraordinary book on this topic.
