The way of the birds

Impossible to dwell anywhere but here and now when the birds are around. They call us back to this moment more efficiently than any reminder on some “app” designed to drag us away from our obsessions, our fixations and our ruminations (which I first mistyped “ruinations”…not far wrong!) Their antics and rhythms, their chatter and song keep us grounded in what really matters…so ironic, given they are born for the wing. Continue reading

Here to hold light

To feel such joy and such sadness at the same time seems to be part of the inbuilt dichotomy of these times…and is how I feel every morning when I walk in “our” little woods to where the crescendo of … Continue reading

He/she/they

There is a collared dove living in our garden, we call her/him “Bob” and we love him/her with a vengeance. Really, there is a pair of doves because they were, and are again, a couple, though only one is ever … Continue reading

Writing as compared to nest-building

The title says it all…but there’s more to the analogy than I thought, when it occured to me. Continue reading

Being in balance

Do we subliminally fear balance, as though it is a kind of “death”? Perhaps we need to remind ourselves that balance isn’t an end-game but a beginning point. Continue reading

On a golden flightpath

Was it a coincidence…this thing I had focussed on so concertedly for weeks in early 2020 manifested as a theme of the year? A flash of golden end of year insight for New Year. Continue reading

Cultivating the mystical

In order to experience the exceptional, we first have to alter our own frequency…then make space for it to happen. After that, its so easy, we wonder why we don’t do it sooner or more often! Continue reading

Could 5G hasten our extinction?

Very little of the (real) news about 5G makes happy reading but if there’s one piece of information that I can’t seem to shake out of my head, its that it could be devastating to all the bees that are … Continue reading

The terrible responsibility of “just knowing”

This latest phase of technology, known as 5G, is being rolled out regardless of the lack of any significant “data” to demonstrate it will not significantly harm life on this planet (and plenty to suggest it will…); rushed through like some sort of shotgun wedding to cover the tracks of something else that is gestating on the other side of it. I’m no luddite, I love some of what technology can do, but I recognise when vested interest has got the upper hand over human and planetary wellbeing; and, once this is “switched on”, do we really think that those who control it are going to switch it back off, for any justification whatsoever? Have you even heard about the effect on the trees, the bees, the birds and the effect on plant growth, water, our very ecosystem? If this continues, I believe we will see one nefarious action after the other, “justified” by the drive to grab this new technology and with all of our previous niggles about the eco-crisis overshadowed into oblivion by a giant monster of an eco-meltdown, caused by playing with matches before we know enough about fire.
