The way of the birds
Impossible to dwell anywhere but here and now when the birds are around. They call us back to this moment more efficiently than any reminder on some “app” designed to drag us away from our obsessions, our fixations and our ruminations (which I first mistyped “ruinations”…not far wrong!) Their antics and rhythms, their chatter and song keep us grounded in what really matters…so ironic, given they are born for the wing. Continue reading →

Stop using the path and you will surely lose it
It takes Nature no more than the blink of an eye to take away what she giveth; unless we indicate, quite clearly, just how much we are interested in keeping it, how much we appreciate what we have “in care” from her bounty…only then does she relent. Continue reading →

Here to hold light
To feel such joy and such sadness at the same time seems to be part of the inbuilt dichotomy of these times…and is how I feel every morning when I walk in “our” little woods to where the crescendo of … Continue reading →

He/she/they
There is a collared dove living in our garden, we call her/him “Bob” and we love him/her with a vengeance. Really, there is a pair of doves because they were, and are again, a couple, though only one is ever … Continue reading →

Writing as compared to nest-building

Being in balance
Do we subliminally fear balance, as though it is a kind of “death”? Perhaps we need to remind ourselves that balance isn’t an end-game but a beginning point. Continue reading →

We still have a lot to learn
For too long, and pushing harder each year, the schooling machine has been whipping our kids through an examination-driven system more like the Grand National than an academy of life, geared at expelling productive economic units more so than rounded or wise individuals poised to conduct lives that contribute to the health of humanity and the planet. Continue reading →

On a golden flightpath
Was it a coincidence…this thing I had focussed on so concertedly for weeks in early 2020 manifested as a theme of the year? A flash of golden end of year insight for New Year. Continue reading →

Counting these 2020 blessings
As we cross the threshold into a new phase, I’m doing my gratitude appraisal of the year, as ever…but with, perhaps, even more appreciation than ever. I think we all agree, its been an “interesting” year and yet there’s part of me…and not just me but (I think its fair to observe) many of those close to me…that is more robust, self-knowing and somehow worldly-wise, in the broader sense, than ever before, and there have been some other unexpected upsides to an otherwise bizarre year… Continue reading →

Preparing to meet Earth’s higher self
Whether you believe in astrologically scheduled leaps or not, I am living testament to them, of learning hands-on what it is to wield subtle yet undoubted powers of energetic influence that I once believed to be fable (or had no opinion about at all) and so I maintain that is something I am familiar with…and can still learn from, hence the current desire to revisit the era when they first awoke in me and the dark that preceded that (just as we are seemingly in the dark mire now, collectively). Learning from what I have been through, I find myself newly poised for the shift in eras that is upon us (yes, its written in the stars). Continue reading →
